Hello there, muthas!

Today's post is one of my favorite topics to talk about, self-care.

Incorporating self-care into your daily routine is imperative, even if it's only for 15-30 minutes.

I personally know how busy life gets and how easy it is to forget about taking care of ourselves.

If you're like me, sometimes you tend to put everything + everyone before ourselves.

However, we can't pour from an empty cup. We have to take care of ourselves, so we can be all that we can be to ourselves + our loved ones.

Self-care is how you reclaim your power, and by doing that you're letting yourself + others know that you still love + care for them but you also love + care for yourself as well.

That's what you call putting yourself on your to-do list and making YOU a priority in YOUR life.

Self-care is really doing things YOU want to do, that YOU enjoy. & sometimes that looks different for all of us, because we all have different wants + needs when it comes to self-car.

Below, I have created a list of 10 ways to help you better your self-care routine.

*These are things that work for me, which means you can either add to the list or subtract. Do whatever YOU feel, works for YOU*

  1. Express gratitude - I personally talk to God and thank him for giving me another day.

  2. Read daily devotions - I love the bible app, they have so many inspirational devotions that helps with anxiety, stress, feeling overwhelmed, self-sabotaging, etc.

  3. Journal or meditate - Grab a cute journal from either target, Walmart, tj maxx or any store that sells journals and start writing about how you feel, what's going good, what's going wrong, goals and anything else you want to journal about. Mediation helps with self-awareness, discipline, control, increases patience with self, decreases stress levels and helps you to be more intentional with your inner self.

  4. Stretch for 5 minutes - Stretching for at least 5 minutes a day helps with calming your mind, releasing tension, increasing energy and so many other amazing wellness benefits.

  5. Make bed - I noticed when I make my bed in the morning, it gives me more energy + confidence in knowing that I have accomplished at least one thing on my to-do and encourages me to also tackle another goal for the day.

  6. Shower or take a bubble bath - if you're looking for a bath soak that helps with with releasing stress + anxiety, check out our "laven calm you down" bath soak. It has organic epsom salt, lavender buds and lavender oil that helps you unwind + relax after a long + stressful day. www.muthaluvin.shop/product/laven-love-you-relaxing-soak

  7. Brush your teeth - Practicing great oral hygiene is also apart of self-care and don't forget to brush your teeth at least twice a day.

  8. Wash your face - Just knowing that your skin is one of the most important organs on your entire body, makes me want to invest in taking care of my skin. When I wake up in the morning and before I go to bed, I make sure that I cleanse, tone, use a serum, moisturize and wash my face.

  9. Make a cup of hot coffee or tea - If you're looking for a tea that refills your soul + calms your spirit, check out our chamomile + rose calming tea that helps with calming + relaxing and soothing the mind, body and soul. www.muthaluvin.shop/product/mutha-luvin-tea

  10. Light a candle - For me, I love cleaning my space and lighting a candle that speaks to the mood that I am in. My favorite candle is the "Muthas need love, too", which has a sweet and slightly smoky, campfire smoke with hints of vanilla + amber that gives a perfect balance of feminine + slight masculine aroma in your home. www.muthaluvin.shop/product/muthas-need-love-too-8oz-candle

  11. Have a fulfilling breakfast - Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If I'm not able to make a full breakfast, I have a smoothie, yogurt, granola bar or banana.

  12. Slightly open up your blinds - Dr. Nosal says that "spending time outside helps regulate hormones and neurotransmitters that have strong effects on mood, behavior and the body's natural rhythmic patterns."

  13. Take a deep breath - If you're anything like me and suffer from severe anxiety disorder, taking a deep breath before starting any major task is so important. This helps with decreasing stress levels, calms your mind + spirit and relaxes you.

  14. Get your day started - YOU CAN DO IT!

I hope these tips help you, take care!

Xoxo,

Takeia
