Dear Diary,

I am trying to do it all or maybe I am doing too much?

As a new mom, especially a young mom, it can be hard to find a healthy balance between being a mom and still trying to pursue your goals. People try to make you think nothing is possible after having a child and that your life is pretty much over. As the days go by, I am overcoming that mindset. I’ve enrolled into a masters program and still plan on pursuing my dreams of entrepreneurship full fledge.

Some may think that is doing entirely too much but I don’t believe that for one second. Children are your biggest motivators. I tell myself everyday that I can balance exactly what I want and achieve the things I want out of life. Doing this requires a healthy balance and plenty of patience. Here are a few tips for young moms in balancing your life after baby.

  1. Take it slow. Do everything at a pace that YOU can handle. Don’t rush the school process or the business operations while your baby is young. Embrace your time with them and everything else will follow. Plus you’ll feel entirely more comfortable knowing you’re doing things on your terms.

  2. Plan your days. Dividing up my days for certain tasks has helped me a lot. I am able to dedicate one day to school work and then some nights especially for my business. I know that when Grayson goes down for a nap that’s my time to finish up some tasks and when he’s awake its playtime for us both. Don’t overdue it.

  3. Sit back and relax. I am my best when I am rested and I’m not forced to work 24/7. As a new mom, self-care is crucial. Adding mommy-mogul training in makes it just that much more important to relax some days. For me, my week starts on a Tuesday or Wednesday instead of a Monday. I make my own schedule so why not ditch Mondays all together?

  4. Have a balanced meal and a designated meal time. Nothing stinks more than not being able to keep yourself healthy and enjoy your meal. I make sure at least once or twice a day I am able to just sit back and EAT. Why? What you’re able to produce starts within. If your mind and body is healthy then everything else will follow.

  5. Write down every idea when you get it and set reminders. This helps me stay fresh and keep my brain flowing. Sometimes this means making a well needed to do list other times it means writing down an idea I have for my brand or Graysons eating and sleep schedule for the day. Most days, I am writing my daily to-do list to be able to meet my goals for the day. Whatever it is, WRITE IT ALL DOWN. Trust me it’ll help things go so much better.

These are just a few of my personal tips on balancing life post-baby. I hope this helps some mamas in a similar boat as me!

XOXO,

Sydney @MomTheMilkmaid
