What I didn't know I needed during my fourth trimester - Takeia Washington

Updated: Jul 12, 2020

Hello mamas,

I hope you all are staying safe + sane during this time.

Today, I wanted to share a few things I didn't know I needed during my fourth trimester.

  1. Uninterrupted time alone to care for myself - When I make self-care my top priority not only can be a better mother + wife to my family but I am also being a better person to myself. During this uninterrupted time alone I am able to relax, reflect and release whatever it is that is weighing heavily on my spirit.

  2. Spending quality time with my husband - after having our baby I noticed that my main focus was completely on caring for our baby and not spending as much time with my husband because of mom-guilt. I think we can get so wrapped up in mom-life that we tend to neglect our spouses in the process. I've been making it a goal of mine to check-in with my husband each day to see how he’s doing + getting that uninterrupted mama + daddy time alone while the kids are asleep or occupied.

  3. Talking to my mama-friends - As a mother, I think it's so important to have friends who totally understand, support and celebrate you. I am so grateful that I know amazing women who speaks love + life into me whenever I feel as though mom-life is kicking my ass or whenever life is going great as well.

  4. Having the strength to create - I'm currently in the process of creating my self-care shop that I am planning on launching this fall. I've been using this time off to be in true alignment with everything God wants for me and my brand. I am trusting this new season and not allowing uncertainty to cloud my judgement when I know I am worthy + deserving of GREATNESS!

  5. Creating boundaries and sticking to them - Creating boundaries has allowed me to reclaim my power + peace within myself and refusing to allow anyone to treat me any kind of way.

What are something's you felt you needed to know during the fourth trimester?

Best,

Takeia Washington
